a fall or at least to blindness to areas of life that need mortification and revival. A denomination that rests too quickly from self-examination or becomes self-congratulatory will often ignore areas of weakness and will sometimes even exult in practices that actually are destructive in their tendency. In this book I assume that a genuine movement of God’s Spirit has initiated a reformation among Southern Baptists. Reformation involves much more, however, than the mere recovery of biblical authority.
